It’s really easy to get lost in the lights and on-stage when
you’re called to do what I do. To forget that 1% of the work is accomplished during that 30-45minute performance set, while the other 99% awaits you off-stage, on the pavement, sidewalks etc. I can say that such is the same even if you’re not a musician or public figure. It’s easy to sink into the lull of a comfortable Christianity. A very real part of the Christian call however, involves getting out of one’s comfort zones and being pro-active in sharing the
gospel and caring for peoples’ needs (James 1:27). On the other hand of the spectrum, many who think about missions, consider global missions, ignoring the very present need in the local community. While global missions are not to be understated, local missions should carry an equally important priority. We recognize this at RMR, and thus have organized what we are calling an Urban Mission Trip Series.
These informal 1 hour meetings will be an opportunity to
serve community members in different cities at a grassroots level. For one hour, myself (Spoken), some RMR team members, and hopefully YOU (insert name here) will minister the gospel, feed, pray with etc. local community members across different cities. Basically, we will do what we as Christians are supposed to be doing. Initially, I’ll hit different cities in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) including Brampton, Mississauga, Malton, Scarborough and of course Toronto. Should the Lord allow the opportunity, I’d love to serve in other cities. This informal setting will also be an opportunity for me to personally build with anyone wanting that opportunity.
Personally, I’m very excited about this great opportunity as
I’ve always felt that private service (amongst other things) validates my public performances. I’ve always felt that if I’m not doing any work for the Lord off the stage, then I have no right to be on stage. Through this experience,I hope to see many come to the Lord, I hope to see many re-dedicate themselves
to Him, and I hope to see many sparked with a fire for local missions.
So as I embark on the less glamorous aspects of being a
servant, I invite you to join me and members of the RMR team as we begin this Urban Mission Trip Series. When we hit your local area, be sure to come out and help us fulfill the Great Commission.
